apology

sorry for posting my own links - didn't realise it wasn't allowed - they are totally relevant to the articles concerned - won't do it again.

Psychodiagnostic Chirology

Hi Graham, I created a new page about a new topic Psychodiagnostic Chirology; that page comes from an online magazine which deals directly with the topic. It is all original content written by professors, psycologists and doctors. Please explain me why my page was subverted? Hope to hear from you soon, best.. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Rostowicz (talkcontribs) 02:13, 7 January 2007 (UTC).

A barnstar for you

The Random Acts of Kindness Barnstar
I thank you very much for your tremendous help wikilinking and correcting my Trivia page. That must have taken you a long time to do, and I'm glad you helped me so much. I hope you liked it a lot! For this I award Graham87 this kindness barnstar. Reywas92TalkSigs 21:57, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

You're welcome! Rinkworks is great, I added it to my favorites list. In the trivia I went straight to geography; I scored 66/100, but still pretty good. My trivia page I've been collecting for at least four years now, and I still add things to it occasionally, but it may be too long to search for too much more. I'm not always sure either if a trivia fact is true or not, but then again, wikipedia will always have the answer. That would be great if you could send me your trivia files, I can send you an e-mail so you can reply with attachments. I just noticed that you have over 13,000 edits. That is amazing! You have also done a wonderful job on Asperger Syndrome, making it featured. Blindness is no handicap for you. You deserve more than just minor and kindness barnstars! Reywas92TalkSigs 02:35, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

Hi

Its me again - from the hills - I have just looked at the vandals history and I think I'll be asking an admin to watch it as the recent edits are either abusive or vandalising. Trust all is well with you SatuSuro 04:37, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

Have alerted one - will do more if it strikes again - user page vandalism is the sign of someone who has a problem - probably wikipedia is not the best place for that type... I seem to have cleared the 10,000 edits but a horrible large number seem to be talk messages - trying to calm the waters with a few users and a few articles but it doesnt always work out the way that I would like - anyways thems the breaks. Hope the new year has been treating you well - cheers! SatuSuro 04:49, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
BTW I am suprised the system hasnt alerted you to the size of your talk page - looks like an archive page is due if anyone else had not mentioned it! cheers! SatuSuro 04:51, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
BTW Hesperian one of our local admins zapped the vandal for a week! Very impressed by your hard work today! SatuSuro 15:06, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

Hello

I think it is great that a blind person can edit the wikipedia to such an advanced degree because it must be complex even with the accessibility tools you use. I'm very impressed by you as an editor and I've noted you check the human voice article I'm working on for errors and vandalism. Thank you very much for your contributions, they are very welcome.--I'll bring the food (Talk - Contribs - My Watchlist) 00:17, 20 January 2007 (UTC)

Hi Graham87

I wish you have a nice year 2007

first, please forgive me, I'm from México and I'm not a very fluent english writer. Second place, I want to tell you that I think that you are doing a great work, I read your profile and I believe that you are a very special person who makes other people to see life in a different way(like me). I am beggining to contribute this effort, I want to create the spanish section for freediving. in spanish we call it Buceo Libre. Also, I think that the links I include (freedivers.net) and the two names in the list of competitors (aharon & Maria Teresa Solomons, who are the owners of that site)could be included in this article without any problem. They are expert instructors and what makes them different from others, its his philosophy about freediving life and training, that includes pranayama and the Tibetan traditions, they explore the more esoteric connections of breath and breath control. they have contributed in many ways and times to freediving development, also, Aharon Solomons at 68 years old, he is not only one of the most experienced freedive instructors in the world, but is also the oldest continuing masters level freediver. They training with Pipin and Audrey Mestre,Tanya Streeter, Davide Carrera, Bob Croft, and a lot of people more. I invite you to visit this link http://www.freedivers.net/aboutus.htm to read more I am working with them as their web master (I am beggining in this too), they are not a big company, they REALLY LOVES FREEDIVING, they LIVE FREEDIVING. on 1998 Maria Teresa and Aharon join Dr Paul Gabbot of Oxford University in Project Dolphin, research into the relationship between the medio-orbital prefronatal cortex and the medula and pons, (voluntary controls of autonomic functions)

I will not include again the links I added before, until you tell me I can do it, if you believe they are right to rich this article (please forgive me for all the mistakes I did)

Warmest regards

Your friend in México

Baroque Violin

Dear Mr. Graham,

Its a great pleasure to see people from my own age breaking barriers, superseeding any difficulties.

I see that we have a couple of interests in common- for example, regarding classical music. I saw that you have contributed in an article about a violinist who invented a bow specifically to play Bach's repertoire. That seems very interesting, and at the same time, contradictory and anachronic, as there are today historically accurate approaches- that is, using the baroque violin and its adequate bow- which have superseeded the limitations of modern violin player. I would like to know more about it.

Anyway, I'm a passionate Renaissance and Baroque music lover. If you are interested in this- but not only in this, but on anything else- it would be a pleasure to exchange some ideas, thoughts and, above all, plain and simple, pleasant chat.

My best regards,

Francisco (from Brazil) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Francisco BR (talkcontribs) 02:28, 25 January 2007 (UTC).

Thank you very much

Again, I apologize with you, This is my first contact with the wiki world, and I don't want to spoil the party with my mistakes. I did not read the interest conflict before, now I know how it works. I think it's great the link you put to their profiles because this two guys has been working very hard for freediving development without profit, they only teach for very small groups (sometimes only 1 person in 6 months or more)and I believe they must be recognized by other people. Thank you very much Graham87, and I read the spanish article about Apnea, and this is not the full concept of freediving, in spanish the full set of disciplines are called buceo libre, and they are mentioned in that article, but it's very small, only a few lines, I think I can work with you version and translate it to spanish and maybe add this to original, what do you think??

Could you make a change to your archive page?

Would you be able to remove the text "{{tfd|smile}}" (without the quotes) from your talk archive page at User talk:Bhadani/Archive08? I couldn't edit it because it is protected. I've been removing these old tfd messages because they are confusing and disrupt the layout of the page - the deletion debate that is being referred to in that message can be found here. Frank Penhalluriack Article Rewrite

You reverted my changes to the article "Frank Penhalluriack" which were correct, Frank Penhalluriack did not recieve a scholarship to Melbourne High School but was moved there due to his school being burnt down (Possibly by a pyromaniac). I have learnt this because i know his son Chris Penhalluriack and he told me this, thank you for your contribution but please do not change the facts again. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 124.191.128.4 (talk) 10:16, 8 February 2007 (UTC).

I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article AM Browser, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree with the notice, discuss the issues at its talk page. Removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, but the article may still be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached, or if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria. The project has reached the quarter-way point for the work on the list of the oldest 1000 ("abandoned") articles in Wikipedia: 250 articles have been reviewed and updated!

The project now has 21 members. If you're no longer interested, please take your name off the list; you won't get any further messages like this one. On the other hand, if you're still interested, please consider signing up for a(nother) block of 10 articles to work on - if everyone did this, we'd be almost halfway through those 1000 articles!

Finally, please note that project approach has changed slightly - there is now a section for editors to place articles that need to be "adopted", or to adopt articles that need further work. This means that if you find an article in a block of ten that needs more work than you have time for, it has a place to be put.

Hello! You removed a section on hotels in the Geneva, New York article. I agree with you entirely on your reasoning to do so, but I think perhaps there was some useful information, so I added it back in a new section entitled Tourism. Sonar

Sorry Graham, but I completely disagree with you. In case you don't remember, you removed my link from the Sonar Wiki page. The link I posted was not promotional or irrelevant, in fact it was quite the opposite. Had you read the article you would have noted that it described what new SONAR technology is capable of doing. Tom Jones

regarding your edit of Tom Jones's vocal range, i agree it's probably best not to put a vocal range down. he sings way into the tenor range quite often, in some songs even in the alto range... anyways, it was a wise decision and thanks for catching it

For this particular piece, did Chopin meticulously compose it, or was it a Fantaisie in the style (if there is one) of an Impromptu (or an Impromptu in the style of a Fantaisie)? ALTON .ıl 05:11, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

Thanks, through. It struck me as bizzare how we refer to pieces being "composed" even though they are called "Impromptus". ALTON .ıl 05:22, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

A part apart...

Yes, I'd often wondered about those myself. I think a botched template that got applied to all Perth station articles at some point was responsible for it. Any I've worked on/expanded have lost it. Orderinchaos 12:16, 14 April 2007 (UTC)

It could - but as long as they don't blame Wikipedia for it :) (Mind you, I complained about a late train once and was told that as it was a cloudy day, one had to expect late trains...) Orderinchaos 12:24, 14 April 2007 (UTC)
Haha... In Vancouver on the SkyTrain they've done away with drivers completely, it's all automatic, and surprisingly, no accidents and I think only one fatality (deliberate suicide). Orderinchaos 12:33, 14 April 2007 (UTC)

Swimming pool

Hi Graham. I have been in the residential swimming pool business since 1967 in the UK USA and for the past 36 years in New Zealand. I know a lot of stuff, but may find it difficult to quote sources as most of the things happened decades ago ( the tetraplegic chap in New York). May of the people involved in my early history have passed away (I am 66 this year). I will try to find more hard evidence of the NY case, but as the NSPI was disbanded as a result of the lawsuit, it could be difficult. As a first time contributor, please excuse my ignorance - I will try harder. - Larry

Hello Graham87, I know that you are doing a lot of good work on the Goa page . Thanks for that.

I wish to discuss an issue with regard to the Wikimedia Incubator links(which I had added) and you have removed [2].

The reason I had added it was because it will take some time to bring the Konkani Wikipedia Test on Wikipedia Incubator into a full fledged Wikipedia. Till then, we cannot add an interlanguage link, just like we do for other languages. So there is no way to inform a visitor that there is a Konkani version of the same article.

As for avoiding the self reference, can we put some title like this: "Article on Goa in Konkani"? Only one link, instead of the three I had put earlier. And only in the External links column , not on the top of the page as I had done earlier.

I have read WP:ASR , and I feel that it is may not wholly applicable . Or maybe a relaxation can be made in this case? It is temporary. Once the Konkani Wikipedia comes into being we can remove this link and put an interlanguage link.

Kindly advise. --Deepak D'Souza (talkcontribs) 12:14, 16 April 2007 (UTC)

Thanks, but it wont strictly be necessary to add both scripts. One will do. Another admin had disagreed with me when I did the same thing on the Konkani Langauage article. Anyway Konkanis are highly educated , at least 50 % of us probably know English. Most of the Konkani people who will be reading the Goa article will understand English. If they visit the Incubator page they will get links to other scripts--Deepak D'Souza (talkcontribs) 13:24, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
No need to be so particular about correct spellings on talk pages :-). Thanks again for the many corrections to the Konkani Language article. The interwiki template is normaly used to link a Langauge article in Wikipedia to its corresponding local langauge subdomain. There is a seperate box for WIkipedia Incubator subdomains(actually: subdirectories) which has been put on the Konkani Language article. --Deepak D'Souza (talkcontribs) 13:43, 16 April 2007 (UTC)

Grainger

Hey, I was the one who linked the amazon sound files to the Percy Grainger article. Could you explain why there shouldn't be a link to amazon? Quandong

Hi Graham.
Thank you for your attention to the Quandong article, there was too many external links. It came up on my watchlist and I was reminded that I intended to create articles for all the species mentioned. I have started by removing the Taxobox for Santalum acuminatum and creating a page with text from that section. I will let you know when I'm done and you can tell me what you think. Regards from another West Australian. Fred 16:11, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

I would appreciate that. Thanks for linking the Pitjantjatjara people. Quandong seems to be used to describe many different species. Some of these are not in the Santulum genus, further adding to the confusion. I first found the article when I created Santalum album and Santalum spicatum, the sources of the timber and fragrance known as Sandalwood. It is nice to chat to someone whose interests are as diverse as my own. I am interested in our states history also, let me know if you want to collaborate on an article. tom jones split trousers

I notice that you reverted my earlier edit to the tom jones article by deleting my comment about the split trousers. Your comment was "I really don't see the point.."

Having had a good look around wikipedia, I notice that many articles have a "trivia" section, none more so than celebreties. So I believe that this is absolutely the right place for trivia.

The incident in question went out live on BBC in England and was witnessed and is remembered by millions of viewers. It's quite astonishing that I could find no other references to it on a quick google search (but it was a quick search) which is why i added the comment.

Indeed in many parts of the UK the expression "I've just done a Tom Jones" is synonymous with splitting ones trousers.

I shall reinstate the edit.

Florence reverts

You're probably correct w.r.t. the notable folks, though I think a Wiki article is not a good measure for measuring someone of local importance. Reversions

Youre a patient person Graham - I have left a welcome and two comments at the imperial measurement reverter - and let one of the admins know as well - undoing work like that is quite unhelpful - and as I have to get off for a while - its good to see you are putting some of them back. Trust all is well with you - we had a good visit and meetup with Jimbo last week or whenever it was - he really is well focused on the major issues - and the interaction and ambience of the meetup really encouraged me to stay at it rather than get flummoxed by the turkeys. He does have a sense of humour too! which was good. Speak to you again soon, cheers. SatuSuro 07:25, 5 May 2007 (UTC)

While I'm not a fan of imperial, it does make articles easier to read for American and some older Canadian and British viewers. As a curiosity, someone did a convert template which outputs the whole string as an MOS-friendly measure in both formats - eg 400 kilometres (249 mi) or for first use 400 kilometres (249 mi). Titanic

Hi Graham,

Thank you for pointing out my mistake with regard to external links.

The links I put in to my Titanic site were all going to different pages within my site, for example I have a peice on Eva Hart - Titanic Survivor Story which I thought related to the Wiki article in question and it was not my intention to spam the Wiki or promote my site. I have read through the guide to adding External Links and appreciate that unless the articles on my site add significantly to the specific Wiki page then of course they should not be linked. My Titanic site is more a personal infatuation with the great ship, my feelings and thoughts on the disaster.

I'd like to contribute to the Titanic article and I think my site with its qwerky look at Titanic and my original drawings do add to the Titanic page on the Wiki, so I'd like to put back the link from the Wiki's RMS Titanic page to my index page. All my other stories and memories can be found from here by anyone interested in my other Titanic articles. I won't put back any links to other pages on my site from any of the other Wiki articles as I can see how you might regard this as spam which is not what I intended.

Best Wishes

Andrew

Mental Retardation

Greetings:

About this article: I think that the etymology section should be deleted, as somebody did earlier. It really seems superfluous. The origins of the word retard are really not that cryptic and do not require an explanation. Do we go to the trouble of explaining the origin of the word mental? This seems a minor and silly point, but I did make a section to discuss it on the talk page. Happy editing. Gaff ταλκ 01:19, 10 May 2007 (UTC)

De Paul

When you type "vincent de paul" into the search box you end up at the actor, capitalization not withstanding; it should go to a disambiguation page. But a dab linkat the actor page instead is OK by me. I had fixed most of the redirects to go directly to the Saint. Had I realized how many I had to change, I would have done what you are suggesting in the first place, even though I think it is less correct. -- 06:50, 10 May 2007 (UTC)

Though, indeed, the huge dab at the top of the saint's page is pretty ugly. Good luck! -- Kendrick7talk 06:51, 10 May 2007 (UTC)

Actually, many of those should probably be in the See also section at the bottom of the article instead. You're right that there is no good theme to disambig to. -- Kendrick7talk 06:54, 10 May 2007 (UTC)

Thanks; I rm'd Irish stamps for relevancy. I'll have to try to show back up to do some clean-up; I have a short list of articles I want to expand from New Advent anyway so I'll stick poor Vincent at the bottom. But you know how it goes; you try to remember the name of a thrift store run by Society of Saint Vincent de Paul and next thing you know your whole day is shot wikiGnoming. Thanks for straightening out the mess! -- Kendrick7talk 07:12, 10 May 2007 (UTC)
