Chase Headley warning

[edit]

Please, try and understand that what I am about to say is not personal. If you continue reverting (see WP:3RR), being uncivil (see WP:Civility), and owning (see WP:Own) on the Chase Headley article I will be forced to bring it to ANI. Again, I am not trying to create an issue. If we can nip this in the bud now, that is for the best. Thank you. --Brian Halvorsen (talk) 04:06, 10 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Consensus

[edit]

The edits I did to Deolis Guerra, Carlos Gutierrez, Danny Valencia and the other players in the Twins' organization was based upon a recent discussion in Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Baseball.--Johnny Spasm (talk) 09:08, 22 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I saw the discussion - everyone was against you. Blahblah32blahblah (talk) 17:43, 22 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
There was disagreement on whether or not there should be minor league awards in infoboxes. Everyone agreed on international awards and minor league teams. Read it agee, you'll see.--Johnny Spasm (talk) 11:24, 23 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

NBA rosters page

[edit]

Can you do something so that the Portland and Utah rosters don't disappear everyday?-DANO- (talk) 17:56, 24 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No. Since you obviously haven't figure it out yet - there is nothing that can be done - the page just cant handle that many large templates. Blahblah32blahblah (talk) 18:03, 24 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Stop splitting hairs

you are splitting hair over the Berkman deal. The deal has been made and he's agreed to it. It's foolish and childish. Primus128 (talk) 02:14, 31 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I like your bold approach to the NBA stats tables. Someone might get mad at you, but I agree that we're better off without the stats. We'll never be able to properly maintain those things. Zagalejo^^^ 05:43, 4 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I didn't realize I had removed the template at the Luke Jackson page. I was shuffling through some old revisions, and inadvertently did something along the way. Zagalejo^^^ 06:23, 30 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Mitch Moreland

[edit]

I know MLB.com still lists Moreland as an OF on its roster, but this is due to his minor league games. His MLB games have him playing 40 games at 1st and only 7 in RF.

His MiLB position was mostly due to Texas always having more than one 1B player in each ofhis leagues. Chris Davis, Justin Smoak, Ryan Garko just to name a few. MLBMinors Red3biggs (talk) 02:31, 7 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Only way to settle position disputes is to go by how he is listed on the team official site. There are a number of player in each league that have problems like this... OF/IF... IF/DH... Blahblah32blahblah (talk) 02:33, 7 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Good call on rewording that last line in the NY Yankees section. I had written that a while back when circumstances were much different. Only one problem, and I'll look too. The source that I had put there states that he is unlikely to pitch, so we should probably find a different source stating that he's on his rehab assignments and maybe called up in a couple weeks. Hey Blahblah32blahblah

I'm sending you this because you've made quite a few edits to the template namespace in the past couple of months. If I've got this wrong, or if I haven't but you're not interested in my request, don't worry; this is the only notice I'm sending out on the subject :).

So, as you know (or should know - we sent out a centralnotice and several watchlist notices) we're planning to deploy the VisualEditor on Monday, 1 July, as the default editor. For those of us who prefer markup editing, fear not; we'll still be able to use the markup editor, which isn't going anywhere.

What's important here, though, is that the VisualEditor features an interactive template inspector; you click an icon on a template and it shows you the parameters, the contents of those fields, and human-readable parameter names, along with descriptions of what each parameter does. Personally, I find this pretty awesome, and from Monday it's going to be heavily used, since, as said, the VisualEditor will become the default.

The thing that generates the human-readable names and descriptions is a small JSON data structure, loaded through an extension called TemplateData. I'm reaching out to you in the hopes that you'd be willing and able to put some time into adding TemplateData to high-profile templates. It's pretty easy to understand (heck, if I can write it, anyone can) and you can find a guide here, along with a list of prominent templates, although I suspect we can all hazard a guess as to high-profile templates that would benefit from this. Hopefully you're willing to give it a try; the more TemplateData sections get added, the better the interface can be. If you run into any problems, drop a note on the Feedback page.

Help a university student edit a wikipedia article about Chris Smith!

[edit]

Hello!

I'm Dan. I go to Cornell University, and one of my assignments for my class is to improve a Wikipedia article. My group members chose Chris Smith (basketball, born 1987), as you can see on that article's talk page. One of the elements of the assignment is to have a meaningful interaction with a few Wikipedia members who have edited the page. Is it ok if we edit the page and message you for guidance? Would you mind adding that page to your watchlist (if it is not on there already!) so you can help us out with this project? It would be much appreciated!

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited The Deal (Seinfeld), you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages The Truth and Siobhan Fallon (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Edit summaries

[edit]

The reason I had reverted your removal of MSG Network on the Mike Emrick page was that you failed to include any edit summary explaining why you had made the edit so there was no way for other editors to know your reasoning in doing so. In the future please include a summary when making such deletions to avoid such misunderstandings. Thanks. Centpacrr (talk) 20:39, 26 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Free agents on NBA rosters

[edit]

Just to clarify that the reason we've been keeping the free agents on the infoboxes (at least from my understanding) wasn't because they were on the official roster pages (those things are rarely up-to-date, anyway), but to make our job as editors easier: you can quickly keep track of free agents and given the FA tag, it isn't as if the average wiki reader will think that, for example, Wear, is with the Knicks. Plus, it's a good way to spot when less experienced editors than, for example, us, have been editing those pages before any kind of official release. I mean, if we have said resource, why not use it? At least until the offseason ends, then, we can remove them. Anyway, I wanna see what you think about this.Intruder007 (talk) 03:57, 11 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It was done because that's how the NBA handled them. Blahblah32blahblah (talk) 19:39, 11 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
