The first book made me question, I overlooked the annoying heroine for the awesome world building and actual storyline.
We first met Sophia in Claimed, she is the twin sister to Olivia. They are totally identical aside from the hair color. Now, in that book you first see the connection between her and Sylvan. You know its there, they sort of unconsciously calm and ease each other worries. We see Sophia as strong albeit a little erratic and fanatical in her need to get her twin back from one of the Kindred.
In this book we are in her actual brain and see why she needs Olivia so much and what her fears are. Now, Evangeline really took on a hot button issue and I think between the male and the female characters she handed it brilliantly.
Sophia was assaulted sexually in high school her Senior year of high school. She was then tormented more by her attacker in order to insure her silence. Now, I bet you ask, where are the parents? Well, the parents were killed in a car crash and it was just her and her twin and another friend. Instead of dealing with it head on she bottled it, which in reality, a lot of victims do. She become guarded and introverted in a very believable way.
Now, enter Sylvan. He knows there is something based on her reactions to him. She's afraid of his size, sexual hunger, and dominance. Finally fishing the story out of her, he is one of the most sympathetic males I have ever come across in romance! That to me made him more Alpha than any Alpha male in most books!
Just a note: A man that is willing to work through the trauma with a woman who was attacked, and shows her compassion, does not make him a push over or weak, it means he's gives a crap! I loved how this whole story was written. The elements of racism that was worked in by the other class of alien races was a stroke of genus and I was riveted by every page of this amazing love story.
Evangeline I am coming to find knows how to mix a little bit a dark into each book she writes. Keeping the reader on her toes as a whole!

It is going to be very hard for me to write this review because I want to do that telling gush, but I want people to actually read the book, and most people don't read a book based on gush. They want facts, they want why, and they want to know really why they should read it other than ZOMG! It was soooo good!
So here is the low down. The Duff was written by a teen, for a teen. She wrote this book when she was a senior in high school after hearing the term 'Duff'. When she thought to herself that she was the Duff with her hot friends around her, she realized her hot friends also thought they were the Duff. So in terms I can make you all understand, its a realistic book, about more realistic teens, that face self-esteem issues. Because lets face it, even the hot chicks think they are ugly on a bad day. Not only was that an endearing quality to the book, but Bianca is a very likable and relateable character. I was Bianca in high school. I just didn't give a crap! I thought relationships were silly, I thought love was fake with teens, and I looked at the hot dude like a walking STD. Which it turned out he was, and I called him out in the middle of science class about it, and it didn't seem to make him afraid of me it made him 'curious'. No I didn't even up with the hot guy, I ended up nearly beating him up at a party, but that is neither here nor there. The rises and falls of this book were perfect. It was paced so wonderfully that I never caught myself skimming (which does happen) I wanted every introspect, every word, and every struggle that the characters were going through. I loved have well Bianca and Wesley complimented one another. I liked how it was more of a joke to use the term whore, and when Bianca finally put it into perspective she just didn't feel that it was right to use at all. The hot girls weren't a-holes, and there was no token mean girl, they all just got along. Yes, there was a group, but they were mostly isolated to their own 'mean girl' world. That was very telling because it was that way in my high school. Yes they bullied, or tried, but when called out they backed off and went back to their own reality.
Wesley. Well, he's not likable as a hero at first. So we have a bit of a redemption story in here. He was totally hilarious and his banter with Bianca was easy, quick-witted, and hysterical right from the start and you just knew that these two were built for one another. Bianca never allowing Wes to, well, be Wes. And Wes made Bianca feel beautiful. It was a match made in young adult book heaven and I loved all the good young adult reading qualities this book had!
I wouldn't recommend this for younger young adult, more upper grade into college. There is a lot of sexual content, it wasn't shown but it was lead up to and implied. So I wouldn't let my daughter read it until I felt her maturity could handle it. I can also tell that the movie is going to be NOTHING like the book, they manufactured a 'mean girl' character "Madison" who is not in the books. Not sure why they needed that plot device when the plot devices in the book would've worked just fine for conflict.

This one made me so happy to start with. I was on top of a cloud and I was so into the book that I had no clue that the author was going to toss the inevitable trouble at the reader. Then I was feeling it. I knew that something was coming. Our boys Zane and Brant were acting off. Even during the ceremony they were being silly and they were trying to get Tanya to doubt--to reconsider. If I was here I would've looked at both of them then and been like, "Um... wtf!" But she was in the moment, getting married/mated, and I get it! Then WHAMO! I cried... I was so hurt for her and I wanted to snatch her up and allow her to cry in my arms because she was totally justified in being as upset as she was. They don't get it. Well, I think Zane does get it but he was wrapped up in the whole 'Being the last one standing thing' and, le sigh... I'm jumping right into the final book now, its really late but I need to know what's going on like NOW!
Oh, lordy, lordy, lordy, this author surely knows how to build a story arc. I mean just when I think it couldn't get better--and what else the author Oh, lordy, lordy, lordy, this author surely knows how to build a story arc. I mean just when I think it couldn't get better--and what else the author could toss at us and our smexy vamps, there is she tossing away. We have a new character Estral and I'm so interested to see how these creatures living aside a modern human world could be so stuff in a rut! They believe in really old school traditions. Women are worshiped and at the same time is a shame threat that seems to hang over their head. It's not a bad thing because they are a different race of people and they are just believing in different, old ways of living. I'm glad that Tanya is going to be queen because I feel a whole lot of changes in the air. I can't wait to see her take her place and stand up and be like ummm no! I'm loving all the side characters. I want to see Xavier, Griffin, Lance, Charlotte, Ross, York--ugh they all need some rutting lovin'! Please give some of them series! PLEASE PLEASE! And boy oh boy that ending!
Well, well, well, out of all the books by Milly Taiden I never thought this one would be my first and that it would be Holy hot dirty circus, batman!
Well, well, well, out of all the books by Milly Taiden I never thought this one would be my first and that it would be so dang hot! Not only was it hot but Milly managed to pack characters that were bursting out of the book. Along with a steady back story that gave the characters something for the reader to emotionally connect with, this was one of the best short stories I've ever read. I'm not a huge f/f book fan. I always seem to get a big porny vibe from them. But this one has a little bit of heart at its center and I found myself going Awwwwwwwww by the end. Even if it was all sorts of yummy smexy. You got some hot Dom, and a smexy female couple and there you go. Highly recommend this quick read!
This was a very very pleasant surprise! I was kinda unsure about reading this one at first. But it kept popping up on my Kindle unlimited recommends. This was a very very pleasant surprise! I was kinda unsure about reading this one at first. But it kept popping up on my Kindle unlimited recommends. So, I decided to take a chance, and I was in the mood for bears so I dove right in. What a totally unique and awesome world that Mrs. Vale has created. This was a totally different spin on the shirt world and I love how believable and bright that the author brought it all too life. It was fun, dangerous, exciting, and sexy.
Olivia is a woman that is trying to get over some poor decision making in her life. She goes out in search of a bit of freedom and answers. Setting out on a short camping trip she gets caught up in a storm and saved by a mystery man. Enter Cody. Oh Cody, hunky, stupid alpha Cody. The poor guy was dealing with being a bear shifter all in his own not even realizing that there is whole clans that he could've gone to instead of living in the woods. He was all kinds of grumpy and that sooo worked for me when a bear shifter. He did do some stupid dude stuff, but I honestly think that it worked, considering how he'd been living for a considerable amount of time. I loved how the author weaved in The Den and I actually really want to see some more in that whole world and all those characters. There wasn't one character that wasn't vivid and brought to life. I would love to get a story about Ben and the Clan leader most of all. I love me some big bad leader bears! So, if the author happens to read this, wink-wink, I would LOVE to see more of these characters!
If you are into shifters, bear shifters to be exact, I think this is a fantastic read to feed that genre need!

I don't know manMina Carter does it again, and this time she combines her smexy talents with an author that bleeds life into a science fiction world. I don't know many authors that can take 23 pages and makes me crave the world that they have created. But Mina does that for me. One of my favorite series is her City Wolves series in her smut-shorties and now she has this sci-fi world that made me believe I was actually in it. I give credit to Mitchell, I'm pretty sure he is the one that ramped up our grumpy mercenary and made me really believe all the introspect that was being pumped at me from his POV. I loved that Tessa is this straight laced woman that breaks under the demanding kiss of our Jensen. Talk about alpha male! Lordy help me I love when men write men because they are just so damned ALPHA! I know that we are building here. I know that Mina gives us hot smex to draw us in and then she creates conflict, war, and a little bit of trouble that our characters have to find a way out of. I can't wait for the rest of this series--and with the way Mina writes I'm sure I won't have to wait too long!

I hate to admit how catty and cutthroat this author/blogger deal is, but seriously all this would totally happen.
I liked Sarai from the moment she leaped out of the pages at me. She reminded me so much of myself. Being comfortable in her own home, with her books, and computer. Building her own blog and content to telling the world how she feels about books and all the things that go along with books. She was someone that sells themselves short, and doesn't count her own worth and I was so glad when instantly Gavin found her appealing. I love a man that can appreciate a woman falling flat on her face in front of him and see it as a moment of connection rather than mocking her. For Gavin being in the spotlight he was very down to earth when dealing with Sarai. I think the coming over for dinner was bigger than him initiating sex, but rather he knew how uncomfortable she was with all that spotlight and money. She is a simple girl, who needs enough in life.
You know, I had a friend like Sarai. I think most girls that are like Sarai have a Jenny. Someone who they basically live through and the Jenny's use to feel better about themselves because they know we don't think of ourselves as anything other than the sidekick. And just like Sarai, when I started to get the attention, when people didn't pay as much attention to my Jenny--I lost contact. So, I personally related to Sarai in every possibly way. The only difference is, I'm not just a reader, I'm a writer also-so that's double the introvert.
The story had a great pace and through all the shocks and the nasty comments in the 'blogger' world, I wasn't surprised but it, I actually felt a bit of shame at the fact that if this were to really happen, this same thing would accrue. With a blogger saying it was improper conduct, and other people calling her a hump and dump. Women are cruel and I hope that women not only enjoy this book, but they open their damned eyes when they read it. Its a lesson in the fiction. I'm dying for the second part! I know that Sarai and Gavin will come up on a little bit of trouble--but that's okay. After a little bit of trouble I hope that Sarai gets all that she desires.

Seriously, I totally went into this book expecting one thing, and then totally getting something a thousand times better and more entertaining.
I am a sucker for a really good assassin/hitman book. There is just something about the cold, sexy air that surrounds hired killers that makes every part of my brain just light up and fire off. This book satisfied everything. You not only had a very intriguing and well thought out origin story for Jhay. Because every awesome hitwoman needs and origins story. This story sucked me in from page one and took me on a fast-paced, sexy, action ride that had me screaming, laughing, and routing for Jhay most of all.
The character behaviors and reactions were all very true to their experiences and who they were. I especially love the "I hate you." I love how Jhay could kill without blinking but had these random 'tantrums' Because lets face it, she lost all her childhood at age eleven. It wasn't just slowly stripped from her, it was ripped from her. Then when she could possibly have some sort of adult figure in her life, she too sort of takes advantage.
Everything was just brilliant. Not just a great story, but it flows, and builds, and then eases out to a fantastic ending that makes you totally satisfied while wanting another glimpse. I highly recommend this book to fans of dark readers, and suspense.

Yes, they have the head strong heroine fighting against the obvious attraction to the hunky alien who is totally reluctant to even like a human, much less date one.
This had that underlying story. However, the author built a very real world plot line behind the cliche teen romance and that is what endeared the story to me. Adding in a brooding hottie is just icing on the cake for me. There is something very endearing about building a very real sci fi world around teen romance. You get invested in the characters so you care about the world around them. I actually liked all the main characters in the story, even the stupid BFF that went all teenage cray-cray.
I hate waiting, but at the same time, I'm glad I have so much to read and this is just another world that an author has created that has left me wanting more!

Mind = blown
I have read a series of terrible dark romances lately and I was really close to giving up. One thing that seems to be a running theme, the authors don't think they need to make the world believable saying, "It's fiction I don't have too."
It is because it is fiction that you have to make it real for the readers.
With this book Eve did NOT disappoint me. The author had a very simplistic way she brought the world to life for me. Set in a dystopian world, this dark romance pushed my limits, made me rage, and brought out the ugly cry. I swear I was about to insert myself in Aya's place and I felt every single emotion that she bleed of the page. She was such a well executed female lead. She never got weak, she evolved, and the evolution made me love her all the more.
Jared was a right evil A-hole and his growth and well developed story arc had me feeling for him and believing his redemption by the end.
Every inch of this story was well throught out and paced. It had just the right amount of sex to kick in that arousal, and the story dominated it all. I would love a Foster story. Him and his girl need a book and I am hoping the Auction is about him.
I highly recommend this book to all fans of dark. This author really raised the bar for me....more

I knew that it was a dystopian theme, and that pregnancy and possible forced sexual slavery was involved by the government. Well, I got all these things, what I didn't expect was to feel simultaneously awed and sick to my stomach at the same time. I haven't read a dystopian world this vivid in quite sometime. I mean usually you get some casual mention or none at all as to why the world is the way that it is.
This world became due to economic collapse--which never recovered.
Slowly, this world built upon itself, the twists and turns and adding onto itself kept me reading even if I wanted to just shut the book curl up in a ball and cry myself to sleep. It was really hard for me to read through Naya's dreams. Especially, her first 'night' or 'appointment' in the Line. Then to later come to find that the Line is in the 'red' so why is it still existing. So many questions and so many interesting characters that just keep building into the intrigue of this sad, gritty, and soul shattering world.
Each character was very vivid, alive, and breathed life into the world that wE are thrust into upon starting the book. I was weeping a lot while I read it, and at the same time having hope that something good was going to happen to Naya. I felt like this was also a world were women are treated subpar. They can be tossed to the dogs at the turn of a hat. It sort of gave steam to the whole 'war on women' going on in our actual modern day society and shows how easily government can just take it all away and well control things.
This book is a must read for those who are fans of the dystopian genre. You may not like what happens 90% of the time, but the quality of the writing sets this story apart from some of the more popular dystopian tales today.

I actually hated all the football players in high school, or anyone else who was considered 'popular'.
However, Simone has this divine talent to get me to adore all her teenage angst. This book had pretty much every element I adore in my young adult fiction. Every character I adored, right down to the dippy step-mother. She was dippy but she was endearing. Ashtyn was an amazing lead female that was smart, strong, and stood up to the dynamics that were tossed at her as a high school female that plays footballs.
Her ex-boyfriend situation was hard for me to stomach but I understand her reactions to everything. I loved Derek from the start and I was totally routing for him and Ashtyn right off the bat. It is very hard for me to express myself in this review because there wasn't any part of it that bothered me. The flow of the book was perfect and kept you engaged from beginning to end. The rise and fall in the drama left the reader both happy and ugly crying when the you know what really hit the fan.

I power read this book in 24 hours and I do NOT regret doing it at all. Now, this is my mood ring over MC 'Romances'. I mean for the most part I thinkI power read this book in 24 hours and I do NOT regret doing it at all. Now, this is my mood ring over MC 'Romances'. I mean for the most part I think they are overly dramatic for the sake of being overly dramatic. I think we toss in some violence, cheating, and really really triggery situations just to well, trigger the reader.
I have mood swings where I'm like "Worse book ever", or I'm like "This was just amazing."
Apparently, I like to cry when I read MC Romances because the ones that tug at my heart strings do it for me the most.
Now this is the tale of Daemon and Olivia.
From the moment I opened the book I was hooked. It began with a similar tone--a chick was shot. I was like "Of course a chick was shot!" I have this issue with women getting the raw end in these stories. I mean they are 'behind' the men. It always rubs me wrong yet I keep reading them. But Olivia. Oh, Olivia breaks all the preconceived notions, and Daemon, oh boy does he push my BS button about a gazillion times, especially when she walks in on him getting head.
Honestly dude, you should have known she was gonna roll up in there.
These parts always trigger me!
Anyways, as a whole it wasn't a triggerfest MC story. It was solid, emotional, engaging, and very well written.
I connected to and felt for each character and I'm kinda still grumbling over some loose ends the author left so she better give me some more Nordic books because I must have the HEA for more of these characters. I'm shipping hard Finn and Jules but I have this weird feeling its gonna be Jaden that ends up with Jules.
I cried so hard for Olivia more than once. Life just liked kicking this woman when she was down. She had her moments to allow the sadness to simmer, and then she was back on her feet. I appreciated that in her. I felt like the story as a whole could have tied up a bit better. I got it, but it felt a touch rushed. Honestly, I wouldn't have minded another chapter for her to close it up with Liv and Daemon just a touch better, but as a whole I was happy with the read and I will be grabbing more of Ms. Lynn's books in the future.

She's smart, wealthy, and needs a way out of her crap family! She's also a dancer. A heart felt soulful dancer.
What Andrew our hard headed alpha male doesn't realize is that he is already done for. Not only did this cliffhanger of a book spoil all his fun! But it gave Alyssa leverage of her own.
Do you see what I did here? I totally made you want to read this, and then you will, and then you will totally whine about the cliffhanger.

In a sea of wannabe Alphas living in the paranormal verse, I honesty believe that Penelope locked onto the formula. You see, when you have anything that is a 'beast' under the skin, I feel that it should behave as the title. Like a beast. He should be dominant, alpha, and unrelenting. He is fiercely loyal and will protect his woman even if it means his death.
Penelope gives me that in this first installment of the Wild Discipline Series.
Not only is this 'shifter' story totally original just like her vampire world, but it is engaging. She took a common threat to the female population and gave it a story filled with passion, violence, and a richness that frankly shocked me in a short story. I was sucked in by all the characters and I LOVED the anti-hero in this story. I can't really call him a 'hero' because he is bad so to speak. He doesn't want to be but he's not mellow dramatic about the whole thing.
He is fierce, raw, and holy crap, talk about dominating. If you are looking for proper Alpha males, I highly recommend Penelope. Don't worry about word count, it is silly, and your paying for a pretty dang good story. ...more

I have this nasty habit of reading them like three years after they were popular. 90% of the time I'm like "Whats the big deal." Well, I think I am totally late to this train but I totally see the big deal.
I went into this book with zero expectations. I had no clue what it was about. I was like eh, I guess, people are gushing I'm do it. Well, I'm gonna be honest, I couldn't put this dang books down. Every single characters sucks you in and I felt like I was a nosy neighbor looking through the front window at all their drama. And boy oh boy was their drama.
Now, I relate to this story on many levels. For one the author used--an author--with his name, to propel the angst and the plot. He wrote a writer so well. Because we are strange, we are creepy, and we are very introverted. The dude has a pet bunny he takes on walks with a leash. I walk my kitten around the backyard on a leash. Yep, I got it.
What really engaged me to the story is the two main characters met in a 'writers roleplay/chat room' That is how I met my husband LOL! I was thinking the whole time "Damn he got to it before me!"
The story had an element of BDSM that was woven so fine that I felt a level of respect for the author. You can tell he actually did research. He didn't just watch some youtube videos and call it good. You can tell. You hear that authors of wannabe BDSM, people in the lifestyle can tell when you wing it! And we DON'T like it!
But I digress.
As a whole the story was brilliant. I can't really say any more without giving away the meat, and the meat is very important to this wicked tale of lust, love, and forbidden desires. If you haven't grabbed a copy of this I highly recommend that you do! ...more

The first had some very violent sexual themes that not only made me uncomfortable, I wondered how the heroes could do what they were doing to her (basically forced seduction) even after they knew her past. You can use the whole lost in translation theme, which is pretty much done, but you can only do so many of those in one book, before it just doesn't wash.
However, I was intrigued. The sex was hot in book one, the concept was pretty unique, so I tried book two, because I kind of own them all.
I wasn't disappointed with this book. They even had public sexual encounters, which I LOVE!
I believe the author did something better in this story. The alien men were more likable, and the female was more willing to be part of their clan. She pushed back when she realized they were already arranged to marry another women, however, none of the men wanted that other female. It was a set up from birth so to speak. I felt like Jessica was just a stronger female lead in this story, and went really well with the three men she was paired up with. As a whole the writing was more smoothed out. The world building continued and they actually took us too the planet. Political intrigue, plots to assassinate, and really really great sex scenes made this installment a wine for me. I am really glad that gave the author and this series a second chance. I can't wait to read the rest. ...more

I feel like, not only does every series gets better, but she also creates a world wholly new and fresh for the readers.
Of the books I've read by Rebecca these seemed to be the darkest for me. That isn't a bad thing, I actually like my shifter books more edgy because I feel like when you pretty up basically animals too much, you ruin the whole thrill of the shifter verse. I was so totally thrust into this dark world that I couldn't stop reading once I started the book. All the characters pulled me into their angst, trials, and emotions that I felt truly connected to them.
My heart reached for Betsy and how she was raised. I mean honestly it was like living in a cult. The whole evolution of Betsy as a characters tugged and pulled at my heart strings and I so needed her to get an ending worthy of all her trials. Cyrus drove me crazy sometimes! He was alpha, boy oh boy was he a right and proper alpha wolf and no one was going to move his choices in the least--until of course the mate brings him to his knees.
And can I just say I was sooooo into the whole 'chasing' scenario. I'm a huge fan of the wolf chase--well--ANY shifter chase to be honest!
I thought the shifter children being kidnapped was a great twist in this world. It was something I haven't read before and I was so excited to get something fresh from the paranormal/shifter world. All the stuff floating around is so full of the same plot formula and these seemed to even up Rebecca's game where her books are concerned. The voice was strong, the characters were raw and endearing, and the story made me cry, laugh, and ache for everyone in it. Truly, you did well with this one Mrs. Royce.
