DNF 50%. This was bad in that specific way that just pisses you off. The characters were so FAKE and CORNY and UNREALISTIC.
This honest to God reminded me of the writing style in the My Immortal fanfiction by Ebony Dark’ness Dementia Raven Way, except that was satire and this isn’t.

"What is going on, why is this so corny? It screams FICTIONAL. Girls are catty in a ‘no one IRL actually acts like that’ way. Our hero is so villainous it feels comical. Our heroine is at her coffee shop job repeatedly dropping everything, spilling coffee on herself, and full-on, legs-in-the-air falling on her ass. I can practically hear the “woaahhh!!” and Disney Channel laugh track. So far, not what I expected!!"

OMG YES YOUR SECOND PARAGRAPH. I just read her second book in the series and I was looking to describe how it made me feel reading it and you summed it up so perfectly. It’s like the My Immortal author grew up and wrote this crap. I think you’re onto something here.
