List of quests

Mathemagician! is a quest in Mario Party Advance that is given by Mechakoopa. It serves as the tutorial quest if the player first begins the game as Luigi, although it can be completed at any time by any of the characters. It takes place at the Mushroom Library, where Mechakoopa is engrossed in a book when he notices the player and asks them if they need anything; the player can simply call him a weirdo and exit, leaving Mechakoopa confused before he immediately goes back to his book, though the quest only begins if the player accepts his help.

Once the quest starts, Mechakoopa introduces himself as a mathematician, prompting the player to ask for some questions about math. Mechakoopa then poses the player three questions based on simple arithmetic, promising to give the player a Gaddget if they answer all three correctly. Each question is presented alongside three potential answers, and the player must choose the correct answer from the options. The questions, and their answers, are:

  1. 10 plus what equals 1000?
    1. 90
    2. 990
    3. 9997
  2. 10 times what equals 1000?
    1. 10
    2. 100
    3. 33
  3. 10 times what equals 0?
    1. 1
    2. 10
    3. 0

If the player gets any of the questions wrong, Mechakoopa is left dejected by their lack of mathematical knowledge and goes back to reading his book, kicking the player out of the library and forcing them to restart the quest from the beginning. Once the player correctly answers all questions, Mechakoopa is overjoyed by their perfect score, calling them a "prodigy," and rewards them with the promised Gaddget, Castle Night. Mechakoopa explains that most of the people in Shroom City obtained a Gaddget after they fell from the sky, and he wishes the player luck as they attempt to collect every fallen Gaddget, finishing the quest.
