Irene Hughes obituary
I oppose referring to Irene Hughes (deceased 12/7/12) as a psychic. Unless there is a preponderance of evidence demonstrating that she possessed psychic skills, she should be referred to as "self-proclaimed psychic" or "alleged psychic." Cachinnator (talk) 05:53, 8 December 2012 (UTC)Rhonda Smith, self-proclaimed cachinnator
- A psychic is, by definition, a person who claims to have an ability. Hughes requires no clarification. WWGB (talk) 05:59, 8 December 2012 (UTC)
Berthold Albrecht
Berthold Albrecht died already in November and not on the day where his death was announced. It's very confusing --Melly42 (talk) 00:18, 9 December 2012 (UTC)
- As this list is based on individual dates, if a specific date of death is unknown we can only report against the date that the death was announced. If a source provides the actual date of death, please provide it so that the listing can be updated. WWGB (talk) 00:30, 9 December 2012 (UTC)
Ravi Shankar COD
I listed it as "complications from heart surgery," should anyone object. The source claims the surgery was successful but he did not recover, ergo "complications". Thanks. — WylieCoyote 17:00, 12 December 2012 (UTC)
Talabani
There is no other source reporting his dead. 79.243.219.27 (talk) 14:35, 18 December 2012 (UTC)
- Agreed. The government in Baghdad is denying he has passed. He's certainly not out of danger yet, but likely he hasn't passed. See http://www.wtop.com/238/2079066/Iraqi-President-Talabani-suffers-a-stroke — Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.51.184.8 (talk) 16:02, 18 December 2012 (UTC)
Inability to edit!
I don't understand why I am unable to have my edits posted on this page. I am autoconfirmed. Thanks! Johnbtv (talk) 23:11, 17 December 2012 (UTC)
- What message do you see when you attempt to edit the list? --Jezebel'sPonyobons mots 23:26, 17 December 2012 (UTC)
- I see no message...but my edited text does not get published and does not appear in the history tab.Johnbtv (talk) 02:02, 18 December 2012 (UTC)
- Your edits worked in the past [1]. Perhaps you are doing something different this time? WWGB (talk) 05:09, 18 December 2012 (UTC)
- I do not believe I am doing anything differently: making the edit; previewing it; correcting, if necessary; inserting description; saving page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Johnbtv (talk • contribs) 19:02, 18 December 2012 (UTC)
- The page was semi-protected back in Jan. 2012 so your 2011 edit would show up. I think, even if you are auto-confirmed, it won't allow you to edit in semis unless you add something to your main page. It still thinks of you as "unconfirmed." Try adding a simple template

to your main page and then edit here. (May take a second to adapt/adjust for the red link of your name. — WylieCoyote 14:11, 19 December 2012 (UTC)

December 22...
...in some areas and no one's reported any deaths from the 2012 phenomenon. Haha. — WylieCoyote 11:05, 21 December 2012 (UTC)
- I'm feeling a little queasy - does that count ? However, for those gullible enough to believe such utter nonsense, logically there would be no one left to post it here. Tee hee.
- It's not 11:11 in Mexico yet..... Ghmyrtle (talk) 11:46, 21 December 2012 (UTC)
- I liked the firm that was offering insurance, that would pay out in the event of the world ending. I wonder how many gullible people bought the cover.

make these 'death by month' files a single file.
These 'deaths in 20xx' files should be a singe file, with month separators, so one can scroll down them. One often knows or suspects someone has died in a certain year, but not when. Searching it out would be easier with a single year file. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.134.154.90 (talk) 16:55, 23 December 2012 (UTC)
- The problem is the amount of memory and scrolling that would be required. As it is now because of the new citation system, the file gets unweildy around 250k+ each month. Many people also use smartphones to access the page and they have a humongous problem with the page because of its size already. That is one of the big reasons that the files are all split out. Colin Davis
Extremely lazy googling by whomever added Davis.
As proved both here - http://www.classicandsportscar.com/news/obituaries/rip-1964-targa-florio-winner-colin-davis and http://www.oldracingcars.com/driver/Colin_Davis also here, that Davis died on the 19th December. The news was actually first reported on the 21st December, but I'm not a member so couldn't add him on the main page.
Could someone please amend the page accordingly (and his page) to give the correct details, using these references? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.21.242.29 (talk) 20:52, 23 December 2012 (UTC)
- I will take care of it, but you need to check the attitude at the door. This is a living document. As the information trickles in, more people become aware of the death and begin to investigate. If a death date isnt cited in the original article tags like (death announced on this date) or (body discovered on this date) will be put in as a placeholder until more information becomes available. This was done by whomever it was that added Davis. As another example, I put in Niall FitzGerald for the 24th knowing full well that he died last week. However, there was no date cited and no immediate death date could be found in a browser search. I am sure in the next few hours, that date will become known as the Irish press start digging, but until then, it will go on the 24th with a tag. This is how we operate here.Sunnydoo (talk) 04:03, 24 December 2012 (UTC)
- And one more point, if you hit the "View History" on the page (up in the top right corner) you can check out who is adding what and various editor notes as the names are put in. Many times the editor will cite the need for more information. Sunnydoo (talk) 04:11, 24 December 2012 (UTC)
- Further, you can always register and do it yourself, rather than snipe at editors. — WylieCoyote 05:15, 24 December 2012 (UTC)
Rip Hawk
Regarding Rip Hawk ... his article states that he died on December 22. This article states December 21. Can someone figure which is accurate and edit accordingly? Thanks. Joseph A. Spadaro (talk) 20:45, 26 December 2012 (UTC)
- Done. Same article in both citations which clearly states the death occurred on the 22nd.Sunnydoo (talk) 21:34, 26 December 2012 (UTC)
Deaths in 2012 very popular
Editors FYI: According to a study cited on the BBC News website Deaths in 2012 is the 3rd most viewed article on the English edition of Wikipedia (a template has been added to talkpage header). The Top 100 most viewed articles on Wikipedia 2012 (English or otherwise) can be viewed here.–Kiwipat (talk) 19:42, 28 December 2012 (UTC)
- A good posting, Kiwipat - many thanks. Interesting to see World War I being more popular than, say, Madonna. Whatever editors do on this article, they do need to bear in mind just how often it is visited.
- That makes the long page-load times at the end of the month all worth it! — WylieCoyote 09:44, 29 December 2012 (UTC)
