when charlotte was growing up, she was mostly isolated and didn’t have an involved family. and then brighton moved in next door. and the two of them become best friends and eventually fiancées. but on the day of their december wedding, brighton leaves charlotte at the altar without a word.
flash forward five years later, the two of them accidentally end up at their respective best friends’ (who happen to be sisters) childhood home. charlotte is ice cold towards brighton, but she just wants to talk to her. and then they get snowed in together!!
this book was full of queer found family, holiday shenanigans, angst, YEARNING, and so much heart. I love found family, and this book hit me in the heart with that and the second chances at love.
obviously there was miscommunication and tbh charlotte was a bit cruel at points. but even so, I really did enjoy their love story.

kit and julia were best friends growing up. on a dare, they got their tarot reading and found out they’re twin flames. and right before they go away to college, julia admitted she loves kit. and kit freaks out and ghosts. now several years later, julia is a wedding planner for a remote wedding in the dessert, and kit is the tarot entertainment and what follows is a super sweet story of the two of them finding their way back to each other.
i adored this book so much. julia was so strong and knew herself and what she wanted. kit was slowly learning and gaining confidence to be who she is and to love out loud. the premise was super fun and I’m realizing I love a chaotic wedding as a backdrop for a love story (see: the ex vows and tell me not).
my one problem with this is a common thing that happens in queer love stories: third act coming out drama. it’s very specific to queer stories and I just wish there was another way authors would set up a third act craziness. it really cheapens the story for me.

A royals-adjacent second chance romance seems like something I would totally eat up. And I mean, technically I did, but I did not have the best time. A royals-adjacent second chance romance seems like something I would totally eat up. And I mean, technically I did, but I did not have the best time.
Second chance romances are near and dear to me. I love the opportunity for groveling and pining. But this was entirely too insta-lust/lovey for me. Also tbh the mmc kinda gave me the ick. The two of them have basically no relationship development outside of the smut. Also, plot… uh, where was it?
For taking it for what it is (read: a smutty romance), it was fine. I read it fairly quickly and def liked it more than the first book.

Eliot is back on her family’s private island for her brother’s wedding after basically running away after This was entirely not what I was expecting.
Eliot is back on her family’s private island for her brother’s wedding after basically running away after high school. She’s pretty much broken all ties to her family, which include those with her childhood best friend. She wants to keep her distance, but obviously that’s harder than she thought it would be.
This book is heavyyyyy. Eliot has OCD (written accurately and painfully), grief, depression, family illness, and challenging family dynamics. I applaud Emma’s writing because wow was this painful to read.
The dysfunctional family and OCD play the central role in this book. Eliot had a loooot of work to do to feel safe and in control of her life.
I recommend this if you want an angsty, painful read with the back drop of a childhood friends to lovers/second chance set up.

I love a story with found family. Throw in an obsessed and sweet Minotaur mmc and a marriage of convenience and I was hooked!
This book was fun. There was action and some of Ruby’s beloved spice, but this book was a bit too long for me. I found myself getting slightly bored and wanting to skim.

ian & delilah are here! lana’s first hockey romance was so delicious, which was no surprise.
when ian comes back to his home team, he’s in desperate need of some good pr. the solution? fake date his best friend’s little sister, obviously.
fake dating is one of my fav tropes. the tension??? the longing and pining?? GIMMEEEE. add in the semi-forbidden aspect because it’s ian’s best friend’s little sister and I ate it up.
one thing I didn’t love was how it was heavily focused on delilah’s childhood crush. I actually hate unrequited love and this felt like that towards the beginning. especially once ian started noticing her and comparing it to how they were growing up. it honestly icked me out a bit.
nonetheless this is a fun, light, fluffy and smutty read with no third act breakup!

this is my third adult summer camp book. I went to summer camp once as a kid and don’t be fooled. this is more chick lit/women’s fic than a romance!!
this is my third adult summer camp book. I went to summer camp once as a kid and cried every single day and wrote letters to my parents begging to come home. so yeah, I don’t think this set up is for me.
however, the friendship repairing really is the main focus of this book. oh and saving the camp. the romance took a back seat and I feel a little confused. I wanted to like this for easy summer reading, and it is if you enjoy women’s fic with a summer camp setting.
the two povs are the two friends reconnecting with each other after not seeing each other for years. like, it’s not that deep? they were camp friends. idk.
I do love a fwb set up to oops actually I have real feelings, and that was my fav part of this.

dev was down baaad. I really enjoyed his character. he’s a softie. willow was really passionate about what she does and I really liked that too.
however - I really cannot get down with brother’s best friend when it’s the only reason they can’t be together. at one point willow literally goes up to her brother and was like “i wanted to get your permission” MA’AM?? he is not your father!!! anyway yeah I don’t love this trope and I think I’ll stay away from it for now.

this book was sooo tender. it is a SLOW burn but full of so much tension I was kicking my feet the whole time. ziggy and seb both gave each other a safe space to be better & stronger. they let each other lean on them and the HUGS in this book? so many sweet and tender moments that I just ate up.
I do have to say that I’m not the biggest fan of slow burns. I also don’t love the “I’m not good enough for you so I’m staying away for your own good” type of thing. however, seb does go to therapy- and I truly loved that. even if we didn’t really see it.

I found that all of the time spent focusing on the family aspect, particularly in the beginning, made it hard for me to really care about the romance. The “rivals” part is a little misleading because Nazeli and Vanya aren’t rivals—their families are. So I felt like that really took away some of the tension for me. Nazeli’s obsession with her job in the beginning also gave me a headache. Can you try to have some interests and personality traits outside of work pls?
When we got to the romance part, it was cute. (It’s closed door btw, which I wasn’t expecting.) The two of them do balance each other out.
