ruby did that for me.

ruby did that for me.
lulu just moved back to her small hometown and got a job (thanks to her dad) at the college there in history department. she’s struggling to belong and find her place and people after a devastating breakup. jesse is mentally and physically healing from a tragic car accident that has left him in pain and without his job.
george, jesse’s ex and close friend, decides to set the two of them up. but neither are really ready for a relationship and are seeking more companionship and friendship than anything. so when george starts running a psychological study (that wouldn’t ever get approval, but I digress) on millennials making friends in adulthood, jesse & lulu both unwittingly sign up.
when I tell you I loved every single second of this book — yes even the third act shenanigans — I mean it. lulu is a neurospicy phd trying to make her way in academia and I felt so seen by her. jesse is a grump, closed off bi man and I love love loved him so much. I need more soft bi men in romance novels stat.
because of the study, the two of them are ✨forbidden✨ to have sex. so they start doing everything but while also becoming friends. friends to lovers is sometimes a miss for me, but it worked so well for them.
ruby wrote such a beautiful book that wasn’t just romance. the focus on being okay with being alone and lonely, how fucking hard it can be to make friends in adulthood, and finding your place was just so perfect. the emotional undertones and development of self-acceptance and growth made me teary eyed more than once.
if you’re looking for an emotional romance with nearly perfect mental health, queer, and disability rep, literally look no further.

unsteady follows rhys & sadie. both of them are kinda broken and trying to keep it together. she’s a top figure skater, and he’s the captain of the hockey team, and when sadie walks in on him having a panic attack, he gets addicted to her.
I cannot express how much I loved this book. sadie is so so strong, and rhys is putting in so much work to help himself and everyone around him. the two of them together with their banter, tension!!!!, and character development was everything. I have a unique view of mental health rep because of my profession as a psychologist, and when I tell you that the mental health rep was flawless, I mean it with my whole heart. I cried, swooned, laughed, and was giddy throughout this.
strong fmcs are my favorite. golden retriever mmcs are my favorite. sports romance is my FAVORITE. peyton did all my favorite tropes with a unique spin that I just could not put down. and as a debut?! I’m in awe of her!

Loved this so much on the reread (via audio) ~
Maddox and Braxton grabbed me by the throat and didn’t let go.
Growing up, the two of them were best friends. And also secretly in love with each other, but spent their whole friendship pining for one another. When stuff goes down with Maddox’s NHL contract, Braxton flees Vancouver. 8 years later, she’s back, and Maddox needs her help. In the form of fake dating to save his image.
I LOVED THIS BOOK!!! The pining, the angstttttt, THE NO THIRD ACT BREAKUP. Please couldn’t be better. Maddox is possessive, and has a mouth on him like no other. Braxton is a confident, sassy, business-owning vet. The two of them have spent years nursing their broken hearts. Braxton has the opportunity to make it right and boyyyy does she. I also adored the short chapters of their childhood. It gave so much more meaning to what they were going through as adults.
Read if you like ✨ hockey romances ✨ fake dating ✨ childhood best friends to strangers to lovers ✨ pining and (a lil) angst ✨ lovable side characters ✨ plus size rep
This is a second gen to the Swift Hat Trick trilogy, which is complete and on KU. But it can be read as a stand-alone. Thank you so much to Hannah for an arc of this! It’s out now <3...more

This book hurt me. For the first half or so, we have Death and Hanna at odds because of what happened in book 1.
I don’t want to give spoilers so I’m just going to say that book 2 is still kinda slow with the plot. My expectations were high because I loved book 1 so much, which is why I think this isn’t a 5 star read for me. I still loved it, but it left me wanting more. I still totally recommend this series. I love all the characters, and watching Hanna’s development is so much fun. ...more

Actual perfection!! Books with strong fmc’s are my weakness and Charlotte and Sutton were perfect. I laughed, I swooned, and felt all the emotions in between. I’m also a sucker for fwb and this was done so well. The thoughts when they are finally realizing they’re in love and can’t live without each other? My favorite.

This book was perfect. I was sucked in immediately and was truly enamored with each and every character. Emily Henry wrote this book as a love letter to all rom com readers. Please go read this immediately.
Some of my favorite things: Hate to love BANTER. Laugh-out-loud-tennis-match-sexual-tension banter Sisterly love Mental health rep Small town vibes flipped on its head
This book took me by surprise. I did not expect to love this as much as I did.
The world building was fantastic. I know I recently read a book whe5 ✨

The world building was fantastic. I know I recently read a book where there were real/pop culture references and I didn’t like them, but they worked for this book. I think because while yes it is a Finnish mythology retelling, it took place in the real world first, and (as she calls herself) Hanna is a basic bitch. Once we get to the Land of the Dead, the setting and atmosphere completely changed and I felt transported into the pages.
The writing was also amazing. While there was not a lot happening plot wise for a little bit, I was never bored and I always wanted this book in my hand. I also laughed and giggled multiple times, which took me completely off guard for something categorized as a “dark” fantasy book.
"You ask a lot of questions.” … “Can you fucking blame me?”
“I think the ancient Egyptians were in cahoots with aliens.”
“This is it. This is how it ends. Indiana Jones’ worst nightmare.”
“Fuck you,” I snarl at him… Death chuckles, “Finally, she speaks!”
“Are you smelling me?”
“Yeet me into the sea, fairy girl.”
I could literally keep going. All of the characters were so much fun to read. There was tension, suspense, humor, and everything in between.
The romance was so hot. I loved watching their relationship develop.
"Fuck, you undo me Hanna.”
“I’ve become quite fond of you, Hanna. I’m not used to feeling anything of the sort. You’ll have to forgive me if my fear makes me do foolish things.”
I highly recommend this one and can’t wait to jump into the next one (because omg that cliffhanger!!!!)...more
