Second chance romances are near and dear to me. I love the opportunity for groveling and pining. But this was entirely too insta-lust/lovey for me. Also tbh the mmc kinda gave me the ick. The two of them have basically no relationship development outside of the smut. Also, plot… uh, where was it?
For taking it for what it is (read: a smutty romance), it was fine. I read it fairly quickly and def liked it more than the first book.

this book literally had me kicking my feet and gasping. the suspense plot line had my head spinning so much. and the mortal peril?? pls it was so good.
i loved how haley and cam came together. he’s protective and supportive and did i mention the groveling? bc wow did i love that.

lachlan fell a little short for me. he was incredibly grumpy and I feel like there was a lack of character development for both him and lark. we never got closure for the two of them why she kills people, she never told her best friend WHO HAS LITERALLY KILLED FOR HER??? I just feel a bit underwhelmed with that characters. and for the plot… what plot? the villain was so meh to me. the climax did absolutely nothing for me as compared to b&b (I literally cried ok).
did I have fun? yes. was the slow burn torture? yes. but it didn’t live up to the same love I have for rowan and sloane.
