It's my second book by this author and I dived into it without high expectations. Maybe that's why it ended being a pretty good one. It was predictable at times and they rush into bed and use the L word too fast for my liking, BUT I still read it in one sitting.
The Beauty and the Best trope.
"My mom used to say that beauty is only skin deep, but ugly goes clear through to the bone".
I liked this story so 3 stars from me.not sure I will read other books in the series....more
As I promised myself I would give 5 stars only to the books that evoke strong emotions in me, I cannot give less to this one. Not after readi4,5 stars
As I promised myself I would give 5 stars only to the books that evoke strong emotions in me, I cannot give less to this one. Not after reading it all night. It kept me glued to the pages and dying to know what happens next! I loved the first book. It was also super catchy and sweet and hot. But here we get more angst and it worked for me better. I understood Ben's fears and the way he struggled with the press. His whole life changed. I ached for their love being twisted and how so many lies and rude remarks being on the front page in all the newspapers. I ached for Indigo and her struggles. I can't believe how much I loved it! The writing is beautiful. The characters feel real and genuine. I would have wanted another wedding at the end, but it was still amazing! So I will round up my 4,5 stars....more

"And all I felt was deep joy - a basic, soul-warming happiness."
I finished this amazing book hours ago and I still find myself re-reading my highlights. I feel like re-reading this whole book because for me, it was PERFECTION. It might sound crazy, but I feel like this story comes right from my most hidden fantasies. This author put into words exactly what I wanted in a book. It's exactly what makes my heart skip a beat. Or ten! It's everything!
I finished this book so many hours ago and I remember the loss I felt when it ended. To say I didn't want it to end, is an understatement. Again I feel the need to mention English is not my native language and lately I struggled while writing my reviews. Now I do too because I'm afraid I can't do it justice. I just can't. This book was SO good I feel like re-reading it just so that I can get another dose of happiness. And hotness!
This book is addictive! But the best kind of addictive. It's PERFECTION!
I really don't know how to gather my thoughts and make sense. I feel like shouting with all my force: THE OTHER BOOK is the best book. But I also need to prepare you: this isn't fluffy romance, this isn't the holding hands and bringing flowers on a first date type of book. This story is about exploring your sexuality, learning to feel free enough to do what you wanted in bed but never dared. This is HOT as all hell and beyond. It's pretty hardcore for those who only read mild sex scenes. I've read many books with amazing potential, great plot, but the erotic part wasn't doing anything for me. I've read books in which the main characters were super attracted to each other BUT the author failed in making US, the readers, FEEL their connection. This is not happening here.
The Other Book is in a league of its own! Maybe because the author is just THAT GOOD in making the reader FEEL the attraction between the characters, their lust, their need, the acceptance of their urges. And God, how they give in!
Knowing English isn't the author's native language, I can only bow my head to the great use of words. It was like everything was pouring from his heart. So smooth, so realistic. So hot!
This book was amazingly written. I absolutely adored all the characters! Minus Joel's dad, of course. I felt like strangling him!!
We get enemies-to-lovers. And what is sexier than enemies at work: the boss and his employee (even if he was just a freelancer)? Their banter was delicious!!!
"Nice tie. Matches the ice in your chest."
After finishing the first chapter I thought: THE BEST FIRST CHAPTER EVER! After the second one, I felt the same. And so on. It just gets better and better. I got super curious about Joel's cold attitude and his reasons. After the third chapter I was needing a break because the hotness was out of this world!
And I absolutely MUST mention Christopher and Adam because they were the cherries on the top.
"It's like I am so in tune with Christopher, I can almost feel the adoration he feels for Adam. I can glimpse Adam through Christopher's eyes. When I see them together, to me it's like a celebration of life."
Tyler. Ty. He was so caring, so protective, so supportive.
"I only want to make you ecstatic. I want to make you forget everything that's hurting you, to protect you from it, even though I know I can't. I still want to try."
Having a foursome in a book where the main couple isn't already super solid is tricky. Or it would have been. But this brilliant author created such perfect scenes! I just couldn't. I couldn't NOT love them. Especially Adam, of course.
"Ty, I have never been so fucking horny in my entire life." "Yeah. I think it's Adam. Whatever sex-crazed demon has possessed the guy, its powers are immense."
To wrap this up, because I really didn't expect to write so much when at first I didn't even know where to start, The Other Book is definitely a book you NEED to read if you are into smoking HOT MM stories, if you're looking for some mysterious boss. Add a super sexy couple ready to play and also a beautiful ending. There is some angst, but it's at minimum. I just knew Tyler was strong enough in not letting Joel to fall apart. Oh and the "buzzing intruder" at the end was just exquisite! 😁
Do yourselves a favor and pick this one up on January 30 2019.
I was fortunate enough to receive an ARC from the author, and I am grateful beyond words. If you haven't figured it our yet, I am a BIG fan!!...more

I was looking for a short and relaxing story and I found this one on my Kindle. To be honest I can't remember when I added it but I dived into it with full force, hoping it's something light and sweet. It really isn't. Actually it's pretty sad and too slow for my taste.
Nick has to come back to his childhood town to burry his father after he committed suicide. He haven't seen him for 20 years and now he's supposed to take care of his funeral and his old house.
Jonas breaks up with his cheating boyfriend of 8 years and now he found a new job as a veterinarian.
Nick and Jonas meet. Both have dogs. Well I kind of lost interest at one point. If I wasn't the kind of reader that absolutely hates not finishing books, I think I would have DNF this one pretty fast. The beginning drags a lot. We get too many descriptions and too little dialogues. I get it, we needed their back stories, BUT enough with the descriptions.
This was a painful slow burning romance. We get hot scenes pretty close to the ending and overall I can't say it made me love the story. So I guess it was only an OK read for me. ...more

Really liked this one! 🎄 This book was free on Amazon and has a pretty good rating on GR, so I said I could give it a try. It's my first book by this author but I really enjoyed the writing! The story was pretty engaging. I was super curious about all the drama surrounding the Marian family! So many brothers and sisters. A wedding, then some pretty nasty homophobic remarks...Ugh! But what won me here would be Tristan. The perfect boyfriend!!! He was supposed to be straight, but he chose to help Blue face his ex. I am kind of bored by the fake boyfriend trope, but here it worked for me.
At first the story seemed a bit too much. Too many characters and a lot of details, BUT we get a lot of HOT moments too and pretty fast. I loved curious Travis. I loved their chemistry. I loved their banter and especially the MADE MARIAN T-shirt he wore in front of everyone.
We get only a little angst and still this story worked for me. Plenty of hot scenes and some drama. Well, I kind of hated some characters, especially Travis' brother and ex-wife, oh and his mother too, but Blue's family was super funny.
I can't wait to read Jude's story (the third book)!!! But I already have the second book and it's Jamie's story - he's running away from a photographer. That should be interesting! So I'll be reading more from this author. Not giving this 5 stars because I needed more angst and some parts made me roll my eyes a little, but it worked for me. Oh and the Epilogue was around Christmas so it's all I could have wanted right now. Merry Christmas everyone! 🎄🎄🎄And happy reading!!!...more

This is the third book in the Underdogs series. From the start I must admit I haven't read the previous two books. I know, I know! I missed all the fun. I am going to read them soon!! I honestly have no idea why it took me so long to get to this series. But starting with the last book is totally me. But I'm not sorry about starting with this one because I really enjoyed this sweet sweet couple!
Even if I haven't read the first two books, I didn't have any trouble reading this one. I understood pretty fast the dynamics between the secondary characters and I loved them all. Especially Dusk and Lolly!
Mage and Down have been friends since they were very young. Mage was so protective and kind. Down was shy and he hid his anxiety from everyone. Some scenes were hard to read. My heart was breaking for Down!
I think the authors did a wonderful job in bringing together the sweetest men. This might be the sweetest story I've read so far from K.A. Merikan.
I loved the slow burning here, the way both Mage and Down needed time to adjust to the realization they have a chance to something more. Their friendship was so pure. I just knew them as a couple would be perfection!
We get some super hot scenes and the epilogue was awesome!
I should start by saying I've read all the previous books in this series. 6 to be exact. I fell in love with the author's writing style4 solid stars!
I should start by saying I've read all the previous books in this series. 6 to be exact. I fell in love with the author's writing style and also all the hotness surrounding the SEALs. Now I just can't believe this is the last book in the series. I don't know where I saw this but if it's true... I will miss this amazing world the author created. Again we revisit some characters from the previous books, but this one can definitely be read as a stand alone. Renzo and Canaan. They were both attracted to the other. While Canaan tried to catch Renzo's attention and flirt, Renzo was determined to fight his attraction and keep his distance. I had mixed feelings about Renzo. Something didn't feel right with his stubbornness about not wanting to risk something with Canaan. I mean, I get it, he didn't want to be used, because he was burned before, but later he was still afraid of trying a relationship with him. Anyway, Canaan was super sweet, sincere, straight forward. I liked so much his Grandpa. I was super sorry about his Grandma and his history with his ex. What a moron!
This book isn't short, it's actually over 300 pages, but I've read it in one sitting. That's how much I liked it. I really couldn't put it down. The big minus here, for me, would be Renzo's attitude. Or better said, the way he decided alone for them both. It really annoyed me. And Canaan just should have made him grovel more at the end.
Overall this was a great story, with so many sweet and also hot moments, but it's pretty slow burning, just so you know.
The ending was amazing and I really am sad we won't be getting more HOT stories with SEALS from this great author.
4,5 stars rounded up because it really was super sweet!

It's no secret I adore this author's writing style. My favorite book would still be A Love Song for the Sad Man in the White Coat. Maybe it's because I adore angst and broken characters are my favorites. About Vanilla Clouds I only knew that it contains "obscene amounts of chocolate". So of course I was intrigued. The writing was excellent, as always! I loved all the Gothenburg descriptions, I enjoyed the character's inner struggles and I chuckled many times with the sweetest characters: Michał and Magnus. Oh and the epilogue was amazing!!!

It pains me to rate it with only 3 stars but I expected so much more. It was supposed to be a dark one and unfortunately it wasn't. Grayish and with so many twists it just made my head spin. I've read a few other short stories from this author and this one is my least favorite. It could have been SO much better. Well maybe it's only me wanting more. But I've read a real dark book few days ago and this one seems sugary sweet in comparison. At least the writing was good and it kept me entertained....more

Thanks SO much, Shin for the rec!!!
It's my first book by this author. As I am not a fan of paranormal, shapeshifters and all, I didn't plan on reading it, but the curiosity won. And I am so happy I gave it a try because it was SO good!!! This author created such a sweet love story and a very unique world. I absolutely adored the soulbond! Kane and Luca/Ghost were perfect together. I loved everything about them. Everything! Kane was strong and a perfect future clan leader. Luca was super sweet. Loved their powers! If I have to admit what didn't really work for me would be the fact that we have to wait SO much for Luca to return to his clan. The waiting was painful, but when Luca and Kane reconnected, it was glorious!...more

My second book by this author and I am really enjoying her writing style!
As stated in the blurb: "Taken Boy is a very dark gay romance, and a parallel stand alone to events which take lace in bestselling books Shamefully broken and Broken Boy". It sounds pretty promising, right? So I just couldn't not jump right into this one after finishing Broken Boy. That one was MMM, and only a little dark. This one is darker, but still not as dark as I expected.
Bobby and Angelo, well they definitely started on a wrong foot. Bobby thinks he can handle him, and at one point he also made a wrong decision. It didn't sit well with me how Angelo chose to forgive him. I would have wanted much more. This felt extremely short even if it's almost 100 pages long.
Overall it's a good one. Just not VERY dark. Not like the Flesh Cartel. Guess that'll remain my favorite!...more
