I have started this book a year and a half ago. Wow! So looong ago!!! It feels like a lifetime ago... I was pregnant and anxious and thought reading would calm me, but I was not able to concentrate much so I just abandoned it. It's been too long since I could read again. My head and heart were... somewhere else. My beautiful daughter, Ais, kept me busy to say the least. I enjoyed this story and I am glad it wasn't too angsty. I'm not sure I could deal with much angst right now. It kept my interest and it was well written. It wasn't mind blowing and I'm not sure I will remember it over time, hence the rating. Hopefully I will be able to read something soon and it will blow my mind. Looking forward to reading something awesome. It's good to be back in the world of books. Oh and this one was a paperback gifted by my best friend ❤ So it was a great comeback ...more

I know I'm in the minority here but this story was too sweet and angst free for my taste. It started very good, I was sure I will love this until the end, BUT Teo still loving Chris, who was SO annoying, really got on my nerves!!!
Jack was amazing, super hot and kind and sweet. He didn't deserve to be somehow put on the second place, after Chris. Ugh!
The fake boyfriend trope... The over the top sweetness... Just nope from me. I am sorry. I should have known better. This author writes such sweet stories. It's just not my thing.
The only thing that really worked for me would be the chemistry between the main characters. So I am rounding up my 3.5 stars....more

I'll start by admitting that I really enjoy Barbara Elsborg's writing. Each and every book written by her was special and different than I expected. This one makes no exception. It was a great surprise. I am not a big fan of paranormal stories, shapeshifters and all, but here it worked for me.
This story was surprising. It was very funny, and it was really hot!
Ryder is not happy to say the least about his team building trip, cycling and talking to himself most of the time. Then he gets to an auction house, meets Callan, and many supernatural creatures: werewolves, witches, faeries. This story gets exciting!
I really want to keep my review spoiler free, so you'll have to find out on your own what brought the main characters together. I'll admit I enjoyed the book, but I would have wanted a little more angst and my only complaint would be that everything fell into place too easily.
If you're a fan of paranormal stories, don't miss this one. It's actually extremely sweet and don't forget: HOT ...more

So, this one was lighter than I expected. We get a MFM scene pretty early in the book. To say I wasn't happy reading about the two MCs sharing a nameless woman, is a big understatement. Then the MCs ignore their attraction and feelings... and boom, pretty fast they are in love, ready to move in together.
I'm not sure what I expected, but this wasn't for me. I need more angst in my books.
The writing was good and there are some pretty hot scenes, but overall I can't say this one was a remarkable story. If you're into sweet and light stories, maybe it will work better for you.
This is my first book by this author and it was a total winner! I didn't know what to expect but anyway it ended up in my 5 I loved this one SO much!!
This is my first book by this author and it was a total winner! I didn't know what to expect but anyway it ended up in my 5 stars books and favorites from 2019 reads.
From the beginning I was so invested into Max's story. His rough past, his relationship with his family, parents and siblings. He did what he had to do to survive. He went down only to get up and fight for a new and better life!
Silas/ Si, oh how I loved his troubled soul!!! At first I didn't know what to think of him, but as his story got revealed to us, my heart got heavy and it pained me to accept he endured SO much, only to become a man of steel. He didn't seem to have a heart, but deep down he was so sweet and loving!
This story is full of angst and is hard to read at times. I got so angry!!! It makes me want to hit something thinking about parents all over the world who would put their flesh and blood to suffer conversion therapy. Here we get extreme conversion therapy taking place in Alaska, during the winter, and this left deep scars to one of the main characters. But even with all the pain and suffering he got to follow his heart in the end, and I couldn't feel more happy to witness his choices.
I have no patience for characters that struggle to admit their feelings, but here there were too many things at stake, and I loved everything! Even the hard times. The angst was great, the action was great, we get some hot and perfect moments, nothing rushed, nothing too over the top.
I adored Eddie!!! He was one of my favorite characters!!
I gave this one 5 stars because I will not forget this story easily and that's what matters in the end. Right? In a sea where we read hundreds of books, some stood out and will never leave us!
Looking forward to reading more from this author!! ...more

Sweet Christmas story. I can't say I enjoyed some parts, and especially how Lane accepted Andy as a babysitter for his 6 y.o. son, right after meeting him. This felt SO unrealistic!

I usually love age gaps between the main characters, but here it didn't work for me. The romance was nice, but a little too predictable. Maybe it's just me here, not the book. Feel free to try it and if you enjoy low on angst stories, maybe you'll like it more than I did....more

I've enjoyed the audio, but the story was over the top! So much drama... and not a good drama actually. It felt long, unnecessary long. There were parts I enjoyed, but we don't get much romance. SO many things happen and my head was spinning with all the side characters and well the secrets and plots.
Can't say I was a huge fan of either of the main characters. Many things bugged me, but overall it was an OK read with some things I would have enjoyed more, if it wasn't for the OTT craziness....more

I love this author's writing and this story is so full of angst! Just my kind of book. I adore drama in books, and here we get a ton! I really enjoyed both main characters but their journey was extremely tough to witness. I hated some characters with all my heart. It's beyond me how some parents mistreat their children. The beginning was shocking, and sad, and painful. The story continued to shock me. Both Zed and Caspian had to fight big to find happiness.
Loved both Henry and Jonas!! They were extremely sweet!!
The ending left me with a huge smile on my face!!! I loved the postcard!
I feel like I can't give it 5 full stars because there were some passages that dragged and dragged, even if there's action too. Overall I've loved it!...more

It was a freebie when I grabbed it from I absolutely loved this one! Can't believe it's a debut book!! I will try to keep it as spoiler free as I can.
It was a freebie when I grabbed it from Amazon, and I have to admit I was pretty excited about it because it has a huge rating on Goodreads. Well I got burned many times before, so many readers enjoy sweet and angst-free stories, but I'm not one of them. Like I said, it's a debut book and I was a little skeptical, but this one turned out to be more than I expected and I love it when I'm pleasantly surprised.
The beginning was a little slow for my taste. We get a ride into James' past. But when James meets the one and only Danny Moore, I got glued to the pages. I am not a fan slow burning romance and here things move at snail's pace, BUT I loved it anyway. The action in this book takes place in 1976. We have two complex characters, James and Danny/ Sydney. They're both surfers. Sydney - I prefer this name - is undefeated and a world winning champion. James dreams to go pro. Their first interactions are loaded with energy and attraction. Sydney is a bastard with a reputation. James is older and just a nice man.
What I loved the most about it would be the writing. The author surely knew how to grab my attention. I knew nothing about surfing, and barrels and waves ... surfing competitions. Still, I couldn't put it down. I've read it pretty quickly and it's not a short one, more than 500 pages.
To be honest this isn't a super hot story. As much as I love hot and sometimes taboo stories, from time to time I discover stories that grab me completely with their uniqueness. Here we get two troubled men, both carrying their scars in their own way. They are different and still something connected them.
The truth is the beauty here lays in how the author revealed their story. It was painfully slow at times, but I felt like I was transported on those beaches, it was like I could smell the salty air, feel the waves under my feet - and I'm afraid of drowning in real life. Sometimes I wanted the action to speed a bit, but it was still extremely well written. It felt real, possible.
The ending was extremely sweet and I was left wondering how many gay couples really got their wishes come true, back in the '70s.
This one really worked for me. Hope you'll enjoy it too if you'll give it a try....more

I really enjoyed this book by Barbara Elsborg. I loved the writing!
I will start by saying I love angst and drama in my books, and this story punches you in the heart from the very start. We get the main characters' background and it was painful to read some scenes at times. They come from such different settings and they both suffered great losses. Roman was born in Russia, Zain was born in Syria. I guess I don't need to develop this more, you'll discover on your own how traumatizing it was for them to lose the ones they loved.
When Roman and Zain meet, the story changes from super sad to super hot. I can't say I enjoyed Roman's transformation, but this is the man he became.
Zain did what he had to do to survive and meeting Roman saved him. It wasn't easy, but they were exactly what they needed.
Their road was not easy, they are both hunted, they had to hide, to lie, to fight for what they had, but I loved their strength and hope. We get many hot scenes, I loved them together! I enjoyed the action here, and I was glad we get some suspense and unexpected turns.
Overall this was a great read! Loved the epilogue and I am looking forward to reading more from this author!!
Oh and while reading this one I had the song Whatever It Takes by Imagine Dragons on my mind.

Even if I'm not a fan of fantasy, the wold building here was head spinning and well a little over the top. But I liked it! I enjoyed the writing, the story, NoX and Luca. BUT I can't rate it with 5 stars. It was a page turner and even if I didn't really care for all the lab details, I kind of wanted to know what happened to Koda and I was curious about NoX! There are A LOT of flashbacks from the past - experienced not only by NoX but also by Dr. Dante. Well I can't say I was really interested in Dr. Dante's POV, but at least we get NoX's and Luca's POV too, so this is always a plus for me. I'm happy with how things settled in the end, after a lot of suspense and tension between the main characters. So 4 solid stars from me!...more

This is the first book in the Beneath the Stain series by Amy Lane.
I can't say that I loved it, it was just OK for now. Maybe it was only the introduction to the series, but for some reason I can't say I enjoyed either of the main characters. Nothing spectacular happens here. The few hot scenes weren't extraordinary and I resented Grant for being afraid to admit he wants Mackey. And for what?! He was afraid of his parents and kept seeing his girlfriend?! Nope. I didn't like him at all!!!
I'll give the next book a try, hoping something big will happen and soon....more
