Data Science at The Jackson Laboratory (JAX Data Science) facilitates data driven discovery worldwide, advancing the JAX mission to improve human health. JAX Data Science seeks to lead a worldwide transformation in biomedical data science that leverages JAX’s unique expertise in mammalian genetics, robust life sciences datasets and the incredible advances in artificial intelligence and machine learning.
The massive expansion of biological data collections in the last 20 years alongside dramatic developments in artificial intelligence has created an unprecedented opportunity for using data to integrate human and mammalian model research, unlock biological insights, and empower the biomedical community worldwide. To meet this challenge, JAX Data Science brings together scientists, software engineers and other skilled personnel while also building local, national and international partnerships that will allow researchers to integrate their data, tools and discoveries, amplifying the impact of these collective contributions.
Images represent a large proportion of all measurements made in biomedical research, including microscopy slides and 3-D magnetic resonance (MRI) or computed tomography (CT) images. Automated image analysis can interpret image data of high volume and complexity in an efficient and reproducible way.
