- The characters of Fruits Basket were created by Natsuki Takaya in the manga written and illustrated by her. The manga was serialized in 136 chapters in the monthly manga magazine Hana to Yume between January 1999 and November 2006, and collected in 23 tankōbon volumes by Hakusensha. The series was adapted as a drama CD distributed as a promotional item with an issue of Hana to Yume and as a 26-episode anime television series produced by Studio DEEN initially broadcast on TV Tokyo between July 5 and December 27, 2001. The manga is licensed in English by Chuang Yi in Singapore, Madman Entertainment in Australia and New Zealand, and Tokyopop in North America. The anime is licensed in English by FUNimation Entertainment, which distributes it in North America itself, in the United Kingdom through Revelation Films, and in Australia and New Zealand through Madman Entertainment. The series tells the story of Tohru Honda, an orphan girl who, after meeting Yuki, Kyo, and Shigure Soma, learns that thirteen members of the Soma family are possessed by the animals of the Chinese zodiac and cursed to turn into their animal forms when they embrace someone of the opposite sex or their bodies come under a great deal of stress. As the series progresses, Tohru meets the rest of the zodiac and the family's mysterious head, Akito Soma, and eventually resolves to break the curse that burdens them. - Os personagens de Fruits Basket (フルーツバスケット Furūtsu Basuketto?) foram criados por Natsuki Takaya em um mangá escrito e desenhado por ela. Os 136 capítulos da história foram originalmente publicados na revista de julho de 1998 a novembro de 2006, e também em 23 volumes em formato tankōbon pela editora Hakusensha. Em 2015, a editora reeditou o mangá em formato kanzenban, lançando a edição de colecionador em 12 volumes. Os dois primeiros volumes desta coleção especial foram lançados no dia 4 de setembro de 2015 e o décimo segundo e último volume foi lançado em 20 de julho de 2016. A série foi adaptada para um anime de 26 episódios em 2001, produzido pelo Studio Deen. Em abril de 2019, uma nova versão do anime estreou no Japão, produzido pela TMS Entertainment. Diferente da primeira versão, o novo anime adaptará a história completa do mangá. A primeira temporada estreou em 2019, com 25 episódios e a estreia da segunda temporada foi oficialmente anunciada para 2020. Fruits Basket conta a história de Tohru Honda, uma garota órfã que, depois de encontrar Yuki, Kyo e Shigure Sohma, descobre que os treze membros da família Sohma são possuídos pelos animais do zodíaco Chinês (Jūnishi (十二支 Jūnishi?)) e são amaldiçoados a se transformar em suas formas animais quando estão fracos ou quando são abraçados por alguém do sexo oposto que não esteja possuído por um espírito. I början av serien bor hon i ett tält hellre än att bo hos sina vänner, för att undvika att vara en börda för dem, och hon har ett deltidsjobb som städerska på ett kontor för att betala sina terminsavgifter så att hennes farfar inte behöver gör det åt henne.
